ARTIST STATEMENT
UNIVERSIAL LANGUAGE
Good artists have good eyes to observe what is around them, and also a good brain to analyze the observation effectively. They know how to transform the observation of what they see into their artistic language, which is able to communicate with many people on a fundamental level.
PEOPLE
I'm into people. Their faces, movements, behavior, dress codes, and other peculiarities stimulate my curiosity and make me wonder what they've gone through, and I translate this into my language. Children are my favorite people; they are free spirited creatures. Their impulsive emotions and expressions always grab my attention. Their unique imagination flows randomly, everywhere, and sometimes out of control.
ZERO GRAVITY MOMENT
We don't force children to take responsibility for their obstinate thoughts and behavior, because we understand their spontaneity. I personally think that the generosity applied to children should be equal to artists too. In the process of creation, there has to be a zero gravity moment for artists, so that they can be honest to themselves and their art. Artists should be assured of the right to be spontaneous and random in every moment of creation.
MEDIUM IS A CONCEPT
Each medium is uniquely portraying the individual characters. I use various media including watercolor, acrylic paint, oil pastel, pen and ink, intaglio printmaking, and so on. It really depends on a concept of a project.
